Big Brothers Big Sisters of Harrisonburg-Rockingham County (also serving Shenandoah County) provides local youth with strong, enduring, professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships.​ You can "GO BIG" and make a difference as a mentor to a local youth (ages 5-14). Volunteer requirements are to be 18 years or older and willing to complete screening (interview, background checks, etc.).  Click on "VOLUNTEER NOW" to inquire, and have any additional questions answered or get started.

 

PROGRAM OPTIONS

SPORTS BUDDIES MENTORING PROGRAM

6 Months Commitment

Available in Harrisonburg & Rockingham County

Meet with youth 2 times a month to watch or play sports at events planned and facilitated by BBBS staff, relying on parents/guardians to provide transportation.

SCHOOL-BASED MENTORING PROGRAM

1 Year Commitment (3 Semesters for College Students)

Available in Harrisonburg (Bluestone Elementary School), Rockingham County (Plesant Valley Elementary School), & Woodstock (W.W. Robinson Elementary School)

Meet with youth 2-4 times a month around lunchtime to read, play board games, create art projects, or spend time outside on the school grounds.

COMMUNITY-BASED MENTORING PROGRAM

1 Year Commitment (3 Semesters for College Students)

Available in Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, & Shenandoah County

Pick up a youth and meet 2-4 times a month to attend agency events or engage in activities in the community, choosing together what to do. The opportunities are endless!
